looking for creative ways to make a watermelon basket for thee 4th July picnic any ideas?
It's a little late to go out shopping, but maybe you still have your Halloween stuff around.

They sell watermelon carving kits, just like pumpkin carving kits.
So just try carving your watermelon like a pumpkin.
Something you could try is if you have metal cookie cutters and a hammer, you can punch shapes out of the watermelon and then put them back in but still slightly sticking out like one inch.
You could scratch out alternate squares(rectangles) of green to make a basket weave). Or just etch any sort of cute pattern or message.
I would just put either watermelon and carving or watermelon and basket into yahoo and just do the image search and browse through them. Some of the Japanese watermelon carvings are amazing.
